Cove Beach or Falcon Cove is the private feeling beach community at the south end of Arch Cape, tucked between Cape Falcon and the headland where Highway 101 enters the Arch Cape tunnel. The county line divides it between Clatsop and Tillamook Counties. It occupies its own small crescent of beach off the highway, with Oswald West State Park and the Cape Falcon trail on its southern boundary and Arch Cape's oceanfront around the headland to the north.
The community is small and the housing stock reflects it — a few dozen homes, most of them oceanfront or ocean-view, on generous lots along a single loop road, with architecture ranging from original mid-century beach houses to substantial contemporary rebuilds. It is one of the quietest addresses on the North Coast, and it shares Arch Cape's position between Cannon Beach and Manzanita.
The homes fronting the cove itself sit above a beach that is entirely the community's own, sheltered from the north by the headland and backed by the steep, wooded slope of Cape Falcon. Oceanfront lots here are among the most private on the coast, and the cove's orientation gives it afternoon and evening sun the more exposed beaches to the north do not.
Back from the water the loop climbs the slope, and the second-row and hillside homes trade direct beach access for elevation and views over the cove to the Pacific. Several of these have been rebuilt in recent years; the trailhead for Cape Falcon and the Oregon Coast Trail is at the top of the road.
