Brighton is the small settlement on the south shore of Nehalem Bay, where Highway 101 rounds the bay's mouth between Wheeler and Rockaway Beach. It sits on the water — the bay's south channel, the jetty and the crab docks are right there — with the Nehalem Bay south jetty road running out to the ocean and the Jetty Fishery at its centre. It is one of the last places on the North Coast that still feels like a fishing village rather than a beach town.
Homes in Brighton are few and mostly older, along the highway and the short side streets down to the bay, with a scattering of newer builds on the hillside above. Values run in the lower band for the coast, which with a bay-front location and a beach ten minutes away at Nedonna makes it one of the more overlooked corners of the Nehalem Bay market.
The houses along the water front on the bay's south channel, with moorage, crabbing and the view across to Nehalem Bay State Park. The south jetty road runs west past the marina to the beach at the river mouth — the same beach as Nedonna, reached from the north end. Older cottages predominate, several of them original to the fishing village.
Above the highway the land climbs steeply into timber, and the handful of homes up here trade bay-front access for elevation and views over the whole bay to Neahkahnie Mountain. Lots are larger, roads are gravel, and privacy is the draw.
